"The Gonzalez Family Christmas" by Layla

The Gonzalez Family Christmas

by Layla

The year of 2014 the Gonzalez family was getting ready for Christmas. This Christmas was kind of the greatest holiday ever. It was the 21st and it was 3 o'clock in the morning. I had to get all of the decorations for the Christmas tree--well, some of the decorations for the Christmas tree.

You must be wondering why I'm getting the gifts and decorations. It's because my parents are in the hospital and I am the oldest child, so that's why I'm really upset.

Anyway when I got all of the decorations, I woke up my brother and sister, so they could help me decorate. I promised my parents that I would still make this a great Christmas for my family. It was very hard because I had to make sure that the food was cooked and I had to make sure that there were gifts under the tree. This is a lot of work, so now I know how my parents feel.

On the 22nd is when I got the rest of the gifts for my family. After that I had to get the food ready. I got the mashed potatoes, the turkey, salad and some dessert (which was chocolate cake). I got party bags. Then I got my brother and sister ready and of course I got ready too, and then we went downstairs to the party.

My brother only looked at the chocolate cake. He got crazy. He has a problem. He goes wild when he sees chocolate, so he ran across the room and he got on top of the table. In addition everybody felt scared. All the guests ran away and he didn't even get to sleep.

I was really scared about what would happen to him but anyway luckily the party was on the 24th so on Christmas there was a big surprise. My parents came from the hospital. It was the best Christmas ever.

"Martin's Message" by Steven

Martin's Message
A poem

by Steven

Martin Luther King tried to fling racism's wing.

His power is like a holy tower.

It's like if he was playing football with the 1981 Forty niners.

You might say it’s crazy but it’s not it’s amazing.

Becuase people were saying violence with violence but King was saying that just equals more cryin'.

So stop with violence and we'll accomplish a triumph.

And everyone's fighting about segregation and it's just breakin' our bodies.

"The First Christmas for the Bunny and Santa Claus" by KJ

The First Christmas for the Bunny and Santa Claus

by KJ

Hi, my name is K.J. and I'm 9-years-old. Here is a snow story about Christmas. I'm doing a comic strip which is about bunnies and Santa Claus, then the bunnies come together forever and they eat chocolate chip cookies at the table. When they open their presents they start to cry and when they look at their mom she has joy in her eyes. But when they look at the people they go crazy. They think that Santa Claus is real but their mom and dad are the ones who really buy them presents. They don't know that their mom and dad are Santa Claus because they bought presents to make them happy at the end of the day.  That is how they got their Christmas and they were happy.

"Baby Luis" by Elijah

Baby Luis
by Elijah
The day my mom's water broke me and her were the only people in the apartment. Then she sent me to my cousin Brandon's house. When I got there I stayed there for 6 or 5 days. Me and Brandon watched movies and played on his ps3 all day.

When me, Brandon and his father finished watching The Purge, and when we were going to sleep, I told Brandon, "I can't wait until my baby brother comes!!!"

"Well, let's see...?" said Brandon, because we didn't know when he was coming.

When my brother was born, I went with my uncle, my Titi Magda, cousin Chester and Brandon (of course!) to see him in the hospital. When I saw my baby brother, he had a lot of hair, and he was too cute and chunky! My mom was holding him. She was really happy. When I was holding him for the first time, he was so soft, like a cloud. He smelled like flowers. Even though he couldn't say it, I could tell he wanted and he tried to say, "I love you."

I'm happy that I have a baby brother! My mom and step-dad and grandpa watch him and I get to play with him a lot. My baby brother is one year old and one thing he does is say "I love you," "I love you too" and "I love you more."
